Margaret Thomas Stauffer, 80, of Davidson, NC passed away on September 7th, 2025.
Margaret was born in Charlotte, NC on June 15th, 1945, to the late Donald Wayne Thomas and Margaret Hawkins Thomas.
Margaret grew up in Wendell, NC. She graduated from Wendell High School and Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) in Wilson, NC. She was a teacher in Virginia and North Carolina. Margaret met David in Raleigh, NC in 1970, they married in 1971, and their three sons were born in Greensboro, NC. Her greatest pleasures were being a devoted wife and mother. Throughout her life she was close with her younger sisters, Lucy Kindsvatter (Fritz) and Susan Shearin (Stuart) and their families. Margaret lived in North Carolina, Virginia, and California and made close, lasting friendships in each place she resided. She was an active member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church for over 30 years, serving in many different capacities including being a Stephen Minister and several terms as an Elder. She was a breast cancer survivor and lived life to its fullest. She loved music, sports, travel, and spending time in the NC mountains (Buffalo Cove). Margaret will be greatly missed and forever loved by many.
She is survived by her husband, David Porter Stauffer; her sons, David Thomas Stauffer (Jennifer), Charles Edward Stauffer (Amanda), and Jeffrey Douglas Stauffer (Lewis); and grandchildren, Mary Stuart Stauffer, Margaret Porter Stauffer, Charles Edward Stauffer Jr., Anna Keels Stauffer, and David Dewitt Stauffer.
A funeral service will be held at Davidson College Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Her remains will be interred at the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's memory to Davidson College Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
