Margaret Marie Stauss passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 91,
in
Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on July 11, 1934, in Jamaica, New York, to
Harold and Elizabeth Koopman Campbell. Margaret's faith was the foundation which
guided her throughout her life.
Margaret was a pastoral secretary at Ponds Reformed Church in Oakland, New Jersey
for 20 years before moving to Charlotte. She retired after many years as a preschool
teacher at Christ Lutheran Church Charlotte, where she touched the lives of countless
children in many ways. Her involvement in the church community was not merely a
pastime but a testament to her faith-filled life.
Margaret's life was one marked by dedication to her family. She was preceded in death
by her beloved husband of 65 years, Joseph Anton Stauss, her parents, Harold
Campbell and Elizabeth Koopman Campbell, and her brother Harold Campbell. She
was a devoted mother to her children, Susan Stauss, Laura Erlenbach (Brad), and
Steven Stauss; as well as her adored grandchildren, Morgan Erlenbach, Peter
Erlenbach (Theresa), Steven Erlenbach (Sarah), Thomas LaBianca (Annie), Jennifer
Leckrone (Michael); and Joseph Stauss. Her great-grandchildren, Nina and Levi, also
held a special place in her heart. Margaret's sister, Phyllis Coman (Geoff), will carry fond
memories of their lifelong bond.
Marge and Joe loved to spend summers at Kiawah Island with their children and
grandchildren. They were always supportive of their grandchildren's interests, which
included horseback riding, football, tae-kwon-do, boy scouts, soccer, swimming and
musical theater productions and took great joy in their accomplishments.
We celebrate a life which was lived with purpose and love. Her impact on her family,
friends, and the children she taught will resonate for generations. Margaret will be
remembered as a loving mother and spouse, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister,
and friend.
