Margaret Stearns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles on Dec. 1, 2024.
I was born in Elgin Township, March 27, 1927, to Anna Zaeske Nelson and Arthur Emil Nelson.
I spent my early life in Plato Township and Campton Township attending schools in Plato and Wasco, graduating from Plato High School in 1945. I went to work at Hawley and that's where I met my husband, Charles L. Stearns, married 69 years, May 1, 1948.
I was preceded in death by my parents; husband, Charles Stearns; son, Jim Stearns; son-in-law, Craig Smith; sisters, Alice, Alma, Ada, and Helen; and brothers, Arthur, Arnold, Elmer, Donald, and Vernon.
Survived by my kids, Mike and Tina, and many grandchildren.
I stayed at home to take care of the kids until they were in junior high and then I went to work at Sears, until I retired 18 years ago. I was a nature lover. I liked gardening, traveling, having the kids over, fishing and camping, and I was a big Cubs fan. I was also an avid baker and cook, making all sorts of delicious meals for our holiday parties. My husband and I were an artistic tandem; Charles would take photos, and I would paint them, and we would display them around our home. Faith was very important to me, and I was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
A visitation for Margaret will take place Monday, December 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home in Saint Charles, IL. Funeral will be held Tuesday, December 3, at 10:00 A.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Saint Charles.
