Margaret Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Funeral Home - Forsyth on Dec. 8, 2025.
Margaret Jones Walker was born to the parents of the late Robert and Marie Jones on June 6, 1948. She was preceded in death by her brother Willie Frank Jones, John Wesley Jones, and Robert Lee Jones. Grandson Marquis Slaughter.

Like many of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Jim and Sarah McCowen, she joined Hopewell United Methodist Church at an early age: a graduate of Hubbard High School class of 1966.

Annice Trevit encouraged Margaret to go to Connecticut to be trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant. After moving back to Georgia, she worked in that field for about two years . Margaret was a very industrious, self-supporting, and single parent. She also worked as a home making aide for the Monroe County Department of Family and Children Services. She was employed at Village Outlet Dress Shop and Bibb Mill. Later in life she moved to Macon and married Ricky Walker. Margaret realized there is no place like home, so she returned to Forsyth

Margaret had a very close and loving relationship with her children and family members. Her home was a place you could always find good times, good food, fellowship, and lots of love.

She will be missed by her children: Christopher (Monica) Evans, Nichole Evans, Delron (Doosie) Dixon, Toniette Brown, Travon Brown; Grandchildren, Marquita Johnson, Naudica Evans, Makayla Evans, Christopher Evans Jr., Trey Jones, Lanya Dixon, Xaria Dixon, Zakayla Lundy, Teasia Bowden, Jakyia Lundy, Brooklyn Lipford, Braylynn Dixon, Toni Brown, and Traveona Brown; Great granddaughter, Nova Slaughter, Great Aunt, Hattie Alford, Special cousin, Ann Taylor; Special friend, Joe Frank "Hamp" Walton and Long-time friend, Mary Grier. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
