Margaret Watson
July 24, 1939 – October 4, 2025

Margaret Watson, 86, of Brunswick, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. Born on July 24, 1939, in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of Kenneth Valentine Watson and Dorothy Margaret McAnern Watson.

A proud graduate of South Portland High School, Class of 1957, Margaret went on to earn her degree from Connecticut College for Women in 1961. She dedicated her professional life to education and student development, beginning her career as a primary school teacher in Great Neck, New York, where she taught from 1961 to 1968. She then returned to her alma mater to serve as Dean of Students at Connecticut College from 1968 to 1987, later continuing her leadership in higher education as Dean at Westbrook College until her retirement in 1997. After retiring from academia, she enjoyed working with Talbots in South Portland from 1997 to 2007, where her warmth and charm continued to touch lives.

Margaret's interests were as rich and varied as her career. She began dancing as a young girl and continued through high school. She loved making candy, crafting, knitting, and sewing-often alongside friends in her cherished Women's Fellowship Group. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel the world, embracing new cultures and experiences with joy.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Watson. She is survived by her brother, John Alan Watson and his wife Mary; her nephew, Robert Alan Watson and his wife Lory; and their three children-Matt, Mitch, and Macy-who brought her great joy.

A service to celebrate Margaret's life was held at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland, Maine, on October 9, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut College, Office of Advancement, 270 Mohegan Avenue, New London, CT 06320-4196.
