Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on March 16th, 1959, Maggie was the daughter of Maria Oliva Maldonado and the late Francisco Maldonado. The early years of Maggie's life were spent in the central mountains of Puerto Rico until her family moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1964.
A graduate of Pace University with a master's degree from Seton Hall University, Maggie spent many happy years teaching the Spanish language and Spanish literature at high schools in Central New Jersey where she left a lasting impact on her students. Maggie was a safe haven, supporter and guiding light for many LGBTQ+ and immigrant students throughout the 30 years in her profession. After retiring in 2020, she spent her final years in Bordentown, NJ.
Maggie was survived by her only child Lin Perez, her mother Maria, her seven other brothers and sisters, Lourdes Viera, Theresa Maldonado, Geraldine Maldonado, Carmen Sepulveda-Lazaro, Daniel Maldonado, Nelson Maldonado and Frank Maldonado and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
