Margie Ruth (Mitchell) Bransom, 94, of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at her residence, after a brief illness. She was born on November 30, 1931, to the late James Wesley Mitchell and Maggie Thelma Lou (Barnhill) Mitchell, in Eskota, Texas.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 35 years, Edwin Allen Bransom, one son, Edwin Michael Bransom, and Glenda Beth (Mitchell) Bullard, her sister and best friend in life’s journey,
Margie is survived by three daughters and their husbands and one son and daughter-in-law: Connie and Ray Greenlee of Odessa; Melanie Ann and Gerald Parker (“GP”) Hawk of Prairieville, Louisianna; Mellissa Beth and Craig Taylor of McKinney, Texas; and Kenneth Bransom and Debra Davis of London, England.
God also blessed Margie with seven grandchildren: Erin Marie Bransom of Los Angeles, California; Zachary Edwin Taylor of Dallas, Texas; Rachel Nicole Bransom of San Francisco, California; Hayden Parker Hawk Grand Prairie, Texas; Spencer Cade Taylor of McKinney, Texas; Alex Ann Hawk of Baton Rouge, Louisianna; and Madelyn Grace Campbell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Margie was a graduate of the University of Texas at the Permian Basin and was a long-time educator at Ector High School and Ector County Alternative Education Center.
Margie consistently demonstrated resilience throughout life's challenges, maintaining an optimistic outlook guided by her faith. She will always be remembered for her welcoming smile and the ever-present mischievous twinkle in her eye. Margie established connections easily wherever she went, and while she was with us for 94 years, her life serves as a testament to the significance of meaningful relationships over the duration of time shared.
She was never happier than when she was listening to gospel music, singing gospel standards with her many friends or enjoying her favorite gospel music group, the Gaithers.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Odessa. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
