Margie Marie Ellis, nee Brinkley, age 94, of Westport, TN, passed from this life on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at her home in Westport, TN. Margie is survived by her daughter Linda (Scott) Klingler of Bruceton, TN, her daughter Lisa (Robert) Peery of Buena Vista, TN, her son, Donald Ellis (Stacey) of Holladay, TN, her grandchildren, Delana (Jeff) Simon, Kayla (Jason) McDonald, Robert Gene Peery, Jonathan Scott Peery, Daniel (Courtney) Ellis, Anthony Brent Ellis, Gage Lee, and Bradison Kelly, her great-grandchildren, Shayla (Austin) Schramer, Shayna and Jeremiah Maynard, Lindsey and Jared McDonald, Akin and Raegan Ellis, Jocelyn Ellis, and her great-great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Aubree Schramer and Jesse Nalley. Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Gene Ellis, her father, Judie Winfield Scott Brinkley, her mother Willie Gertrude Parrish, her sons Robert Scott and Ricky Lynn Ellis, and her daughter-in-law Betty (Baker) Ellis.
Margie was born in Benton County on June 2, 1930. She professed her faith as a young girl and maintained and strengthened her faith in Jesus throughout the rest of her life. Margie and Delbert were married in Corinth, MS in 1949 and were married for almost 70 years until Delbert passed away in 2018. Together they had five children, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. They owned a Century Farm which had been in Margie’s family for three generations and remains in the family to this day.
Margie loved fishing, bird watching, gardening, canning, going for long rides on winding country roads, and preparing meals for her family and friends. Her door was always open to friends, family, and neighbors. She was described as “a true best friend.”
Visitations for Margie Ellis will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5th at Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden, TN and at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6th. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 6th at Oakdale Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Terry Hilliard. Margie will be interred at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Westport, TN.
Margie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the community of friends and family that have offered their support and prayers.
