Margie Montoya Licano, 87 of Chandler, Arizona, passed awaypeacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 31, 2025. Born on December 7, 1937, in Clifton, Arizona. Margie was the cherished daughter of Joe and Mary Lou Montoya. In 1957, Margie married Manuel Licano, her devoted husband of many years, and together they raised two sons, Perry and Cory, who survive her.

Margie dedicated much of her career to the Chandler School District, where she worked with special needs children – offering her warmth and care to those who needed it most. Margie's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Margie was known for her love of cooking and dedication to her family. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter; her devotion to family and friends and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Margie had a knack for remembering every birthday, anniversary, and important date in her children's and grandchildren's lives, never failing to send a card or make a call. Her homemade salsa was a cherished recipe by her family and friends. Margie was an avid fan of ASU Football and the AZ Cardinals. Margie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Licano, father, Joe Montoya, mother, Mary Lou Montoya, and brother Ricky Montoya. Margie is survived by her sons, Perry Licano (Donna) and Cory Licano (Michelle). Her three grandchildren, TJ Licano (Jessica), Amanda Licano and Leslie Licano and her four great grandchildren, TJ Licano II, Hailey Licano, Charlotte Licano and Olivia Melton. Her siblings, Banner Montoya, Joe Montoya, Rhonda Montoya, Sylvia Montoya and Ronnie Montoya.

Services will be held at St Timothy Catholic Church, Mesa AZ on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at City of Mesa Cemetery, Mesa AZ with a reception following at St Timothy Catholic Church.

Pallbearers: Cory Licano, TJ Licano, Banner Montoya, Tommy Foy, John Alvarado, Kylee Carbajal, and Joe Fletcher.

"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
