Margo Alline Fortune, a beacon of generosity and love, passed away peacefully on the 7th of October, 2024, in Buda, Texas, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on February 6, 1949, in San Antonio, TX, Margo lived a life marked by creativity, kindness, and a dedication to peace education.
Margo's career as a Speech Pathologist and Montessori Teacher spanned over five decades, during which she touched countless lives with her expertise and warm-heartedness. She was a respected trainer of Montessori teachers, shaping the next generation of educators with her dedication to the Montessori Method and boundless enthusiasm for child development. Margo's professional journey was more than a career; it was a calling that she pursued with unwavering commitment.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Amber Fortune; adored granddaughter, Delia Brimer; cherished son-in-law, Chris Brimer; and her siblings, Rose Henson, Linda Steen, William F. Fortune III, Mary Helen Crockett, and Lee M. Fortune. Each family gathering was brightened by Margo's presence, her laughter, and the adorable shoes she would wear. Upon becoming a grandmother, she was lovingly addressed as Mumsie.
Margo's education at Abilene Christian College laid the foundation for her professional achievements and her approach to life. It was there that she found her calling to teach and developed a deep understanding of the power of peace education, which she would later impart to her students and colleagues with grace and expertise.
Her interests were as varied as they were joyful. Margo had a special place in her heart for cats, and her home was often filled with the serene purring of her feline friends. A regular at her local Starbucks, she was known for her friendly banter with the baristas and her unwavering order. Shopping at The Gap was more than a pastime-it was an excursion she looked forward to, always seeking out the perfect addition to her wardrobe.
Margo's creative spirit found its outlet in card making, a hobby that allowed her to express her love and care for friends and family through intricate designs and heartfelt messages. Bird watching brought her close to nature, providing moments of tranquility and delight as she marveled at the avian world. Antique shopping and home decorating was another cherished activity; she transformed her every home into an inviting and beautiful space.
Generous, loving, and creative-these words encapsulate the essence of Margo Fortune. Her generosity extended beyond her family and friends, touching the lives of her students and colleagues. Her love knew no bounds, enveloping all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The legacy Margo leaves behind is one of inspiration, a testament to a life lived with purpose and heart. Her impact on the world of education, the lives of her family, and the hearts of her friends will continue to resonate for years to come. As we say farewell to Margo, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless ways in which she enriched our world.
Her passing is not just a loss but also a reminder of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit. Margo's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories we share, the lessons she taught us, and the love she spread so freely.
Rest in peace, dear Mumsie, knowing that your spirit will forever be a guiding light for all who knew you.

I was a student of Redeemer Montessori for one and a half years. Ms Margo was the kindest and most caring teacher that I had ever seen in my life. She was my first best friend and my family still talks about what a great, loving, and caring teacher she was. I loved Ms Margo so much, every day I would look forward to coming to school just for her. Redeemer reminds me of when she used to teach me how to sew and design outfits. She also taught me how to choose color pallets so perfectly, I truly admire her. And, Ms Margo, if you can see this, you will always be the tiny voice my head telling me what the right thing to do is. My name is Pavitra and I will miss her so dearly. Rest in peace with all of our love Ms Margo.

Margo played such a huge part of my early mommy life. My oldest daughter Nola was a pre-k, kinder student and Margo and I shared a mutual respect for each other. She was such a strong supporter and advocate for all of her students and they adored her. Ema went on to be her student for two years, but sadly Jane did not get Margo´s gentle guidance as she decided to leave DISD, such a loss for Harry Stone. We still sing some of Margo´s songs from the ellipse, and we all have happy memories of Margo.
Her passing is a big loss for all who knew here, but especially for her sweet family who she adored.
Our thoughts are with you all as you navigate this new normal. Godspeed sweet Margo, your life made a difference
