Margo Gaspard Obituary
BASILE ~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margo Gaspard announces her passing on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her home with her family by her side at the age of 66. A Rosary and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with David Guillory officiating.
Margo, affectionately known as "Mar" by all who cherished her, left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Born on May 27, 1959, to the late Russell and Mary LeBleu Gaspard, Margo devoted her life to caring for others, spending thirty-four heartfelt years at Basile Care Center. Her warm spirit and genuine kindness were evident in every interaction, as she never met a stranger and always offered a helping hand.
A lover of creativity, Margo found joy in arts and crafts, and she delighted in the simple pleasures of shopping, exploring garage sales, and gathering with friends for games of bingo and pokeno. Her vibrant personality shone through in everything she did, paired with a special fondness for caramel iced coffee and Strawberry Barq's Cream Soda.
Margo is survived by her children, Phillip “Lope” Lopez of Elton and Brooke Lopez of Lake Charles; her brother, Russell “Rusty” Gaspard, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Basile; her sisters, Carolyn “Cat” Gaspard of Basile, Becky Montou, and husband, Brent of Oberlin, Darlene Thibodeaux of Duralde, and Joselyn “Jaz” Gaspard of Basile; numerous nieces and nephews whom were her honorary grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marty Gaspard; and nephew, Eddie Dever.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 9:00 am until time of services at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile.
