BASILE ~ It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Cecelia Gayle Manuel Fruge passed away at Eunice Manor with her loving family by her side. She is 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Keenan Brown officiating.
Gayle was born on October 26, 1953, to John Marion Manuel and Isabella Mae Bellon Manuel. A proud graduate of Basile High School, Gayle was a remarkable person whose spirit shone brightly. A devoted Catholic, she embraced her faith with grace and lived a life marked by simplicity and humility. Her passions included gardening and cooking, and she took immense joy in keeping her home a warm and welcoming place for family and friends.
Gayle’s greatest pride was her beloved daughter, Shanna Fruge Chaumont, and her husband, Nick; as well as her son, Iray Ashford of Eunice. She found boundless joy in her two granddaughters, Isabella Grace Chaumont and Alli Gail Chaumont, who filled her life with laughter and love.
She is also survived by her two cherished brothers, Tommy Manuel and wife, Sherrill of Basile, and Sammy Manuel and wife, Cindy of West Lake; and her dear sister, Angie Manuel Soileau and husband, Harry of Jennings. Gayle will be profoundly missed by her extended family and friends, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
As we remember Gayle, let us celebrate her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and the countless lives she touched. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile. The Rosary will be prayed at 12:15 pm by the Lady of Altar Society.
