Christopher James Bergeaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, November 4, 2025, at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee Mamou, LA, for Christopher James "Poot" Bergeaux, 53, who passed away October 29, 2025, in New Orleans, LA.
Fr. Nathan Comeaux, pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday, November 3rd from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM and Tuesday November 4th from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. Interment will follow his services in Reed Cemetery.
Chris was born November 22, 1971, and resided in New Orleans, LA. He attended Iota High School, his freshman year where he was deemed Captain of the Rifle Team. He later transferred to Basile High School and was a member of the Basile Sing Out. He graduated in the class of 1990. He loved spending time with his pet dogs. Chris was always the life of the party and bursting with positivity. He was blessed with a contagious smile and would always light up any room he was a part of.
He is survived by two sisters, Helen Bergeaux Vidrine and her husband Gy of Basile, LA, and Peggy Bergeaux of Basile, LA; numerous nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Tim Fields of New Orleans, LA.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Merline Reed Bergeaux, Sr.; one brother, Clifton Murray Bergeaux, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Eva Reed; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Theresa Bergeaux.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made in his name.
