Gertis Miller Bergeaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, LA for Ms. Gertis Miller Bergeaux, 95, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings, LA.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA from 4:00 pm - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate and interment will follow at the St. Jules Cemetery in T-Mamou.

Gertis was born in T-Mamou on January 23, 1930, to the late Dominic Miller and Leontine Klump Miller. Gertis was well known for her gift of sewing, working as a seamstress for many years at Hayes Cleaners. Beyond her vocation of sewing, her heart overflowed with love for her family and friends. Gertis loved to clean her home to a level that was legendary among her family. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially during Easter, her favorite holiday. Her home was a haven of memories and happy times. She loved to play cards and go camping with her friends and family, often enjoying campouts with her children and grandchildren. In later years, she cherished sleepovers at home with her great-grandchildren. Gertis never missed an opportunity for a trip to the casino, even at odd hours of the night. Before her husband's passing, they could be found in Kinder, LA often. A devoted mother and grandmother, Gertis had a strong spirit, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Gertis is survived by her son, Wayne Bergeaux (Pam) of Jennings, LA; daughter, Roxane Ardoin; brothers, Gibson Miller and Lubert Miller; sister, Lillie Belle LeJeune; six grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, as well as one great-great-granddaughter, who is expected to arrive in March.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Bergeaux; her parents, Dominic Miller and Leontine Klump Miller; son, Harvey Dale Bergeaux; sisters, Clara Miller, Mary Nell Fontenot and Louella Holmes.

Pallbearers chosen to carry Gertis to her final resting place will be Jeffery Bergeaux, Daniel Hanks, Erin Hargrave, John Hargrave, Lucas Oliver and Andrew Kershaw. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Kershaw, Blaise Lopez, Dominic Bergeaux, William Lopez, David Bergeaux and Dustin Fruge.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Jeff Davis Living Center and LAMM Family Care Hospice.
