Mrs. Brenda was born in Crowley, LA on October 13, 1946, to the late Mr. Clifton Joseph Hanks of Morse, LA and Mrs. Lena Marie Moore Hanks of Jennings, LA. As a longtime resident of Mermentau, LA, Brenda was a proud member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and retired member of the Lady's Altar Society. Having earned a bachelor's degree in education allowed her to thrive as a schoolteacher for over 20 years. Brenda dedicated herself to her vocation as a teacher, where she enriched the lives of many children with her kindness and care. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Nanny to her nieces and nephews, Brenda's heart overflowed with love for her family. She was very much involved in the lives of her grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to attend their school activities and functions. Her other interests include working in her garden, cooking, doing puzzles and baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. Brenda loved to decorate for any holiday and never missed a chance of going to a UL basketball and football game. Brenda and her family also loved to travel and make memories, special moments that will be cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Robert A. Thibodeaux; son, Bradford Thibodeaux (Tricia) of Sugarland, TX; daughter, Bridget Trahan (Mitchell) of Lafayette, LA; brothers, Steven Hanks (Janice) of Forked Island, LA and Ben Hanks (Renee) of Missouri City, TX; four grandchildren, Brittany Ezell (Josh), Lane Trahan (fiancé, Abby), Jonathan Thibodeaux, and Matthew Thibodeaux; three great grandchildren, Addison, Nolan and Carter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Joseph Hanks and Lena Marie Moore Hanks, as well as her sister, Jackie Foote.

Pallbearers chosen to carry Mrs. Brenda to her final place of rest are Kevin Foote, Marcus Foote, Jason Foote, Eric Boudreaux, Josh Ezell, Lane Trahan, Jonathan Thibodeaux and Matthew Thibodeaux.

Honorary pallbearers are Nolan Ezell and Carter Ezell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to doctors, nurses, and staff at Heart of Hospice, especially, Nurse Elise, Aid Nneeka, and Chaplain Steven.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Matthews Funeral Home JENNINGS, 511 N Cutting Avenue Jennings, LA 70546.
