A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. for Mrs. Merline Bergeaux, 74, who passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in her home in Tepetate, LA. surrounded by family and friends.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. The visitation will resume on Saturday at 8:00 AM and proceed until the time of her service at 10:00 AM.
Deacon Bryan Istre will be officiating for her service.
Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery in Basile, LA.
Merline was born on March 17, 1950, to Herbert Reed and Eve Reed in Jennings, La. She was a native to the Basile area where she held a career as a cook for the Renowned restaurant DI's Cajun Restaurant. Merline was affectionately known to many as "Knock". She loved the cajun season of Mardi Gras. She was caring and loving woman who knew the meaning of hard work. Merline led a compassionate role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Merline is survived by her son, Chris Bergeaux (Tim Fields); her daughters, Helen Vidrine (Gy) and Peggy Bergeaux; her brothers, Tommy Reed and Ronald Reed; her sisters, Patsy Simar, Mary Mott, and Elaine Ravey; her nine grandchildren, Monica, Chris, Ayla, Sir-Malachi, Shelbi, Gregory, Haeven, Kanen, and Zeb; her four great grandchildren, Ryker, Isla, Baylor, and Katherine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Murry Bergeaux, Sr.; parents, Herbert and Eve Reed; her son, Clifton Murray Bergeaux, Jr.; her brothers, Sam Reed and Donald Reed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home JENNINGS 511 CUTTING AVE JENNINGS, LA 70546
