A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 1:30 pm in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, LA for JoAnn McFarlain Hunt, 91, who passed away surrounded by her children at The Carpenter House on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Lafayette, LA.

Reverend Keith Pellerin will officiate.

JoAnn was born on May 7, 1934, in Evangeline, LA to Norris and Amenth Clement McFarlain. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. JoAnn was a 1952 graduate of Iota High School and a 1955 graduate Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, TX earning her B.S. degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse for 45 years including over 30 years working at Jennings American Legion Hospital. JoAnn's passions were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved being in her yard.

She is survived by her four children, Cindy Hunt of Crowley, LA, Paula (Joey) Theriot of Broussard, LA, Sharla (Kenny) Prejean of Jennings, LA, and Richard (Amy)Hunt of Six Mile, SC; her three grandchildren, Jennifer Prejean of Evangeline LA, Joshua (Laci) Prejean of Hathaway, LA, Jared (Emily) Prejean of Jennings, LA; her 12 great-grandchildren Kaden, Ali, Carson, Layne, Addalyn, Kye, Talan, Cru, Tate, Collin, Charlotte and Koe; her niece, Richelle (Kenny) Frey of Eunice, LA; as well as her nephew, Donald (Lynette) McFarlain of Crowley, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carlton R. McFarlain.

The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA for the care and compassion they offered JoAnn and her family during her time of need.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
