Margo Hernandez, 71, of Wagner
Margo passed away peacefully Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Margo's Life will be 2 PM, Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Inurnment will be in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood.
Margo Lana Arpan Hernandez was born on January 29, 1953 in Wagner, SD to Amanda Arpan (Fredrick) and Rudolph C. Arpan. Margo has one sister Sandra and three brothers: Daryl, Rudy Sr., and Vaughn (Shmeek). She grew up on the river bottom and went to school in Greenwood. She called the Yankton Sioux Reservation her home for many years and eventually made her way to the Beehive state, Utah, where she met her husband, Jose Hernandez. She graduated from Provo College with an associates degree to be a medical assistant. She would go on to have a range of fulfilling careers. In 1997, she was diagnosed with leukemia and miraculously made a full recovery and lived in remission for 24 years. Together, Margo and Jose's family had three daughters: Laurel, Denise and Francisca, and two sons Brandon and Denton.
Margo was preceded in death by her mother Amanda, father Rudolph, brothers Daryl and Rudy Sr., son Brandon and many other relatives.
Margo is survived by her husband Jose, sister Sandra, brother Vaughn, three daughters, son, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved being with her family, taking care of others and spending time with friends at the Fort Randall Casino.
