Margo Rae (Erickson) Zanke was born on October 13, 1943, to Norris and Leona (Ohm) Erickson in Marietta, MN. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1961.
On September 15, 1962, Margo was united in marriage to James "Jim" Zanke in Marietta, MN. They lived in San Diego, CA, Fridley, MN and Columbia Heights, MN. In 1965, they moved to Fairmont, MN. In 1978, Jim and Margo opened Zanke's Mini Market, which they later changed the name to Zanke's (Sporting Goods) Hook Um Tackle. They sold the retail business in 1999, but continued to sell whole-sale bobber stops until 2018. Margo also kept busy as a homemaker while managing the bait shop.
Margo enjoyed bowling, Bingo, going to the casino, Elvis Presley, and puzzle and color books. She loved fishing and sitting out on her porch with a cup of coffee. Margo could often be found playing Texas Hold'em and she loved her Queens. Margo's television often had sports playing on it whether it was golf, baseball, football or NASCAR just to name a few. She also loved her "Ohm Gang" and enjoyed camping in different areas. She will be remembered as a strong lady who loved everyone no matter who you were. Her family was the most important thing to her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karla (Steve) Schwebke and Darin (Jessica) Zanke; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Clint (Joelle) Thomas and their children, Aiden and Isaac, Kate Thomas and her daughter, Astrid, Tori (Brad) Hagberg and their children, Mariah, Miles and Marley, Luke Zanke, Scott Hines, Colton Hines, Dylan Tierney, Austin Tierney, and Dustin (Candace) Schwebke and their children, Alyse, Brian and Camden; sister, Gayle (Dennis) Jutting; sister-in-law, Deb (Greg) Meyer; nieces and nephews, Melanie (Bob) Vollmer and their children, Brennan and Grace, Becky (Blaine) Parish and their children, Brandon and Noah, Sam (Angela) Meyer and their children, Zack, Becca and Will, Joe (Nicole) Meyer and their children, Logan and Gage, Jacob (Niki) Meyer and their children, Sydney, Bennet and Jackson and Lisa (Tom) Strawn and their children, Ben and Kate; and other extended family.
