Margaret Fleming was born March 11, 1933, to Willie Griffin and Sallie Lou Griffin, both preceded her in death. Margree received Christ at an early age at Springfield Baptist Church, Moro, Arkansas. She attended Carver secondary school in Moro, Arkansas.
Margree Fleming beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord July 3, 2025 at the age of 92 surrounded by her loved ones. To God be the Glory.
Margree was united in marriage on December 24, 1970, to Douglas McArthur Fleming Sr. who preceded her in death. They shared a union that lasted 42 years. Together they raised seven children: Lou Humphress (Roger), Clara Hall, Ophelia Mabon (Bennie), Victoria Ralls (Gary), Patricia Moore (Gary) and Douglas Fleming Jr. (Angie).
Margree was employed by Rival Electric and the Bendix Corporation where she worked as an Electronic Assembler and was awarded for her outstanding work. During her employment with Bendix, she worked with Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II. When she retired from the Kansas City School District, she ended her employment years.
Margree loved God and attended church regularly. She moved to Kansas City and became a member of Spruce Missionary Baptist Church. From Spruce Missionary, she joined St. James Church under the pastorship of Rev. Emanuel Cleaver II. She worked in different areas of ministry and sang in the choir that she loved so much. She later moved her membership to Greater Infallible Word Church under the pastorship of Bishop CL Howard where she was a church mother. On August 18, 2018, Margree moved to Dyer, IN to live with her daughter and son-in-law and attended Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Center, Inc., under the pastorship of Apostle Bennie Mabon Sr. where she was also mother of the church.
Family gatherings and home cooked meals were a significant part of Margree's life. She once owned a restaurant. She was a very strong, wise and kind person who helped everyone.
She is survived by her 6 children, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Margree was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas McArthur Fleming Sr.; son, Ray Anthony
Griffin; grandson, Deron Chrisman; and great-great-grandson Azrael Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Visit 9-10:00 a.m. at the church. Forest Hill Cemetery. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
