Marguerite P. Giannetta, formerly of Wappingers Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, at the age of 89. We lost Marguerite twice: first to dementia and then when she was called home to her Lord.
Marguerite was born in the Bronx on August 1, 1935, to Thomas and Rafaella (nee Maione) Pizzo, their only daughter. On May 15, 1964, she married the love of her life, James R. Giannetta, and they blended a loving family.
Thanks to her wisdom when it came to finances (among other things), the family moved from a small apartment in the Bronx to their home in Wappingers Falls in 1973. She was active at St. Columba School in Hopewell Junction while her daughter, Jaime, attended there, was a devout member of St. Columba Church and a true prayer warrior. For several years, she worked part-time in the payroll office at Sears in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Marguerite devoted her entire life to caring for others. After high school, when her father lost his job, she gave up her dream of becoming a math teacher to go to work to help support the family. For the rest of her life, taking care of James and her family was her great joy.
Marguerite loved hosting holidays --especially Christmas Eve --dancing the Merengue and Cha-cha-cha with James and traveling to the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City.
Marguerite is survived by her loving children James (Ronee), Christopher (Anne Marie), Thomas (Janet) and Jaime (Willam); her eight grandchildren Jennifer (Michael), T.J., Nicholas, Christopher (Julia), Michelle, Zachary, Billy, and Justin; and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Mason and Stella. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas and sister-in-law, Mary Ann, both of whom she adored, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marguerite was predeceased by her cousin and best friend, Ann Pagano, second cousin Monica, great-niece Haley, nephew Steven and niece Annie.
The family is sincerely grateful to everyone at Braemar Living at Wallkill and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan for their compassionate and exceptional care.
At the request of the family, services will be private. Marguerite will be laid to rest beside James at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. A celebration of Marguerite's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, kindly feel free to make memorial donations to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan or any Breast Cancer Awareness charity.
