Maria C. Almas (Silvia)

Maria Conceicao Almas (Silvia), 92, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away at home on September 26, 2025.

    Born in Vila do Nordeste, Portugal on November 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jose P. Almas and Rosa (Melo) Almas.

    Maria worked for many years as a dedicated seamstress in the garment industry, after graduating from Casa do Trabahlo Vila do Nordeste São Miguel Açores. She was a devoted parishioner of Santo Christo Church and an active member of the Santo Christo Women's Guild. She embroidered religious flags for Our lady of Health, Santo Christo Church. St. Michael’s Church, and Fall River Sports.

    Maria found great joy in her home, where she loved baking, cooking, and entertaining for family and friends. She took pride in keeping a clean house and also enjoyed planting her flowers and relaxing while watching her favorite television programs.

    She is survived by her two loving sons, Robert S. Silvia and Brian J. Silvia, owner of Brian’s Car Care; her dearest friends Ilda Jorge and Randy Cambra; her caretakers Paula, Maria, Aida, Alex, Helena, Debbie, Megan, Jessica, Dan, and Patrick; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Ernesto P. Almas, Manuel P. Almas, Francisco P. Almas, Isaura Almas, Maria do Carmo Arruda, and Maria Santo Christo, and her beloved Maltese, Muffin and Princess

    A visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 4 to 9 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main Street Chapel, 2064 South Main Street in Fall River.

    Her funeral will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 8:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
