Obituary of Maria H. Arnholt

Maria H. Arnholt, age 83, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

Born and raised in Upper Darby, PA, Maria spent the last six years in West Chester. She previously resided in Boothwyn for 17 years and in Aston, where she lovingly raised her family.

A 1959 graduate of the School of the Holy Child in Sharon Hill, Maria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. After raising her children, she worked as a sales associate at JCPenney before spending 20 years working alongside her brother at Heron Home Health. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Maria found joy in shopping, lunches with her beloved high school friends known as "Club," family vacations to Ocean City, NJ, and, most of all, time spent with her cherished grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Mary A. (Dougherty) Heron; her husband, George A. Arnholt Jr., who passed in 2019; her infant daughter, Jacqueline; and her brother, Frank Heron.

Maria is survived by her four children: JoAnn Arnholt (Edward Carmien), David Arnholt (Tammy Hobbs), Susan Arnholt (Bob Zembower), and Jennifer Davis (Joseph); her siblings: Jack Heron (Roseanne), Richard Heron (Sue), Joe Heron (Maureen), and Michael Heron (Barbara); sister-in-law, Irene Heron; and six grandchildren: Katie Carmien, Gillian Carmien, Charlie Arnholt, Gabrielle Davis, Sofia Davis, and Joseph Davis.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Media, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria's memory may be made to the Society of the Holy Child Jesus at www.shcj.org.
