Maria del Refugio Aviña Bran

March 1, 1942 – September 21, 2025

Maria del Refugio Aviña Bran, beloved matriarch, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born on March 1, 1942, in Jalisco, Mexico, the cherished daughter of the late José Aviña Valdivia and Maria Guadalupe Bran Tello.

Affectionately known as "Cuca" by many, Maria del Refugio was a fighter to the very end. She lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and unshakable determination.

She was the devoted mother of Ricardo Aviña, Maricela Nuño (Jeannette Lopez), and Graciela Nuño, and the proud grandmother of Victoria Aleman, who brought light and joy to her later years. Maria del Refugio was the last surviving sibling of Maria de los Angeles, Salvador, Ramon, Maria Estefania, Jesus, Roberto, Trinidad, Ezequiel, Maria Juanita, and Ruben - marking the end of a remarkable generation.

Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews, both near and far, who will always carry her memory in their hearts.

Maria del Refugio's life was a testament to perseverance, pride, and unconditional love for her family. Her memory will live on in the lessons she taught, the strength she inspired, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Though she has left this world, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her parents and siblings, watching over those she loved. Her spirit, strength, and love will forever guide us.

The family kindly requests that any donations to assist with funeral expenses be given directly to Maricela or Graciela. Your generosity and support during this difficult time are deeply appreciated-thank you for your kindness.
