Maria Palma Barbosa

Maria Palma Barbosa, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and esteemed professional, passed away peacefully at her home in Elk Grove, California, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 69. Her death followed a courageous battle with POEMS Syndrome, a rare blood disorder.

Maria was born on July 14, 1956, in Manila, Philippines, to the late Federico Palma, Sr. and Clementina Palma. She grew up alongside her eight siblings: her twin sister Louisa, Fred, Ray, Tim, Ralph, Christy, Elena, and Vicky. The family eventually established their home in the United States.

After graduating from high school, Maria dedicated herself to a successful career in the manufacturing industry. She excelled and worked her way up to become a highly respected Quality Assurance Manager. She concluded her professional life as a beloved Document Control Specialist at Philips Corporation, where she was known by her peers and co-workers for her expertise and stern, yet effective, approach to completing projects.

Though dedicated to her work, Maria's true passion was her family. She was utterly devoted to her grandson, Jarvis, who spent nearly every weekend with her. She lovingly spoiled him, taking him to his favorite restaurants and spending countless hours watching movies together. Maria’s immediate family will fondly remember the joyful weekend "Happy Hours," where she loved to dance, listen to oldies music, and celebrate life. She also enjoyed the thrill of playing slot machines at the casinos.

Maria was known by all who loved her to be deeply selfless, always going above and beyond for her family and friends. Her tireless efforts and loving spirit created a lasting legacy.

Maria is survived by her two sons, Jason and Chris; her daughter-in-law, Tani; and her one and only grandson, Jarvis.

She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the immense love she gave to everyone around her.
