Maria Elena Baron, age 82, of Allison Park, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Maria graduated from Mount Alvernia High School in 1961 and earned her BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. She was employed for many years in the Electron Microscopy Department of the VA Medical Center, Oakland. A lifelong Pittsburgher, Maria had resided in Sharpsburg, O'Hara Township, and Allison Park, PA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Wisnewski Baron, her father, Walter Baron, and three uncles: Leo, Anthony, and Joseph Wisniewski. She is survived by cousins: Christine Scheuermann, Marlene Schick and Linda Rump.
Maria survived trauma in her early life, and went on to develop a degree of peace and enjoyment of life through engaging with caring friends in her later years, and through her love of animals (especially her beloved dog, Misty) and of her Polish heritage. She was a devout woman devoted to her faith and to the practice of the Rosary. Donations may be made to Animal Friends.
Funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Parish, St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215. Viewing in the church one hour before the Funeral Mass, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Everyone Please Meet At Church.
Burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 700 Soose Road, Millvale. Friends of Bill W are invited.
