Maria De La Luz Villalobos De Chavez passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. She was born on December 20, 1923, in San Mateo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Juanita Molina and Felipe Villalobos. She was the eldest of eight children-five brothers and two sisters.

At the young age of 10, following the death of her father during the era of Pancho Villa, Maria took on the immense responsibility of helping raise her younger siblings. With unwavering strength and resilience, she managed the land, animals, and household, learning early how to protect and care for what mattered most-her family, her home, and her values.

Maria met the love of her life, Marcelino Chavez Gonzalez, at a dance. They married in 1943 and soon moved to El Tule, Chihuahua, where they began building their life together. The couple later made the journey to Brighton, Colorado, where they continued raising their family and living a life rooted in faith, hard work, and tradition.

Together, Maria and Marcelino had nine children. Maria was a true matriarch-a woman of deep tradition and fierce dedication. Her Catholic faith guided her, and her tireless work ethic shaped every part of her life. She embraced ranch life, loved horses and the countryside, and had a gifted touch when it came to working with her hands. She sewed, knitted, made clothing, and cooked for her family, always with love-her homemade corn tortillas being a favorite. She was also a sharp businesswoman who proudly owned and operated a grocery store.

Maria is survived by her children: Jesus, Evelia, Hector, Maria, Filberto, and Angelica; her siblings Juanita and Remedios; her 21 grandchildren; more than 17 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Marcelino; her parents; her son Feliciano; her twin daughters; and her siblings Felipe, Nieves, Rosario, Esteban, and Natalia.

Maria De La Luz Villalobos De Chavez leaves behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Her story, her spirit, and her values will live on in the many generations she helped shape.

Juntos tuvieron nueve hijos.
