Loving Mother and Grandmother
WATERBURY—It is with profound sadness that the family of Maria Christine Delgado, age 75, of Waterbury, shares the news of the peaceful passing of their beloved mother and grandmother on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, at Cheshire House Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
Maria was born May 27th, 1949, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late James and Aurora (daCosta) Delgado. She was educated in local schools and proudly served her country with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. Maria spent many years working as a bus driver for Laidlaw Transportation and was an avid collector of Anime art. She loved to play video games on her phone, Nintendo, and computer and was always happiest when spending time with her family. She possessed a generous heart, shared unconditional love with everyone and made this world a better place. Her legacy will live on with her family and in the hearts of those she touched, most especially her children and grandchildren.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children: Nicole Delgado of Waterbury, Jason Delgado of Waterbury, Stanley Tataranowicz of Waterbury, Michelle Fontanez of Spring Hill, Florida and James Delgado of FL. She also leaves her brother, in addition to 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. She was predeceased by her son, Craig Delgado and daughter Heather Delgado.
Funeral services for Ms. Delgado will be held on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 pm at the Middletown State Veterans Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit the Delgado family on Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until the procession leaves for Mass at 10:30 am.
