Maria Edl Obituary
She was born in Nemetker, Hungary February 26, 1926. After emigrating from Germany following the war, she and "her Tony" came to this country and settled in Akron, Ohio. Maria and her husband were two of the founding members of The Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church in Uniontown where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and Silver Stars. She was a member of The Greater Beneficial Union and a volunteer with the Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Edl; parents, Stefan and Teresa Szabo; brothers, Franz and Stefan Szabo; and sister, Teresa Kolb. She is survived by her three children, Veronica Edl (Chuck) Steidl, Anthony Edl (Suzanne), David (Jutta) Edl; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father David Halaiko presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, OH 44685.
