Maria Isabel Floyd, 83, entered eternal rest with the Lord on April 15th, 2024 and was reunited with her previously departed family.
Maria was born in El Paso, Texas on April 26, 1940. She met a handsome Army soldier named Larry Floyd in 1958 at Alligator Park at the Plaza downtown, who swept her off her feet and became her husband. They married on January 9th, 1959.
Previously departed loved ones included her parents Isabel Ramirez and Jose Rascon, her brothers Clyde Jones, Johnny Jones, Charlie Jones, and Norman Wood. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Larry Floyd; Children Lorinda & Joaquin Tadeo, Larry & Lucy Floyd, and Margaret & Zul-Tan Jackson; sister Rosie Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren.
Maria was a homemaker and wore many hats: in her early years she sold Tupperware, was a brownie and a girl scout leader, cheerleader coach, volunteered for countless school functions, was on a bowling league, to name a few. Throughout her life she always loved flowers and making floral arrangements, crafts, and was an avid picture collector. Later in life she was an active member of the VFW and a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. Ultimately, her true passion in life was always taking care of her family.
Visitation for Maria will be at 10:00AM on Monday, April 29, 2024 followed by the funeral service at 11:30AM at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Committal Service will follow at 1:00PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
