Maria Forkenbrock

Maria P. Forkenbrock, 98, of Bourbonnais, passed away Monday (July 29, 2024).

She was born in October of 1925, in Rome, Italy, the daughter of Bonosio and Ada Petrassi. She married Herbert A. Forkenbrock in April of 1945, and then moved to the United States. He preceded her in death.

Maria was the mother of seven children. Surviving children are, Henry and Roberta Forkenbrock, of Castle Rock, Colo., Dee (Anna) and Jim Kerouac, of Manteno, Judy Duggins, of Bourbonnais, Susan Reeme, of Byers, Colo., Michael and Jenny Forkenbrock, of Downers Grove, and Herb Forkenbrock, of Bourbonnais; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Herbert, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Laura El'Asri; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Kaplar and DeeDee Atkinson; her two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Tina and Mario Debease and Letizia and Alvaro Pontani; and one son-in-law, Michael Reeme.

Maria enjoyed playing card games, playing Bingo, knitting and working with plants. She was determined to make it to her 100th birthday.

As per her wishes, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais and burial rites will be held for her immediate family at a later date.
