Maria C. Guzman With our deepest sympathy, we are acknowledging the passing of our beloved Maria Clotilde Angulo Guzman, who resided in the Philadelphia, PA area. Maria recently departed on June 9, 2018 at the tender age of 86 due to health related complications. Maria was born on October 5, 1931 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to proud parents Mr. Apolinar Angulo and Mrs. Concepcion Figueroa. During her teen years in Puerto Rico, Maria met the love of her life, David Guzman Sr. and they subsequently moved to Miami, Florida in pursuit of Maria starting a career in music, getting married and beginning a family of her own. After a few years of living in Miami Fl., her first child (Maria) was conceived. Eventually they relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she worked for several years in retail at various department stores while simultaneously continuing her commitment of creating a family in which another six children were born (Reina, Herbert, Migdalia, David Jr., Brenda and Evelyn). Maria and David finally settled in Philadelphia, PA to enjoy the benefits of their personal accomplishments and reap the rewards of their well-deserved retirement years. Maria is preceded in death by her loving husband David Guzman Sr. who stood by her side for 55 blissful years, as well as her nurturing daughters Maria Guzman and Evelyn Guzman-Rodriguez. Maria will be extremely missed by her devoted children, Reina Guzman-Pe?a, Herbert Guzman, Migdalia Guzman-Torres, David Guzman Jr. and Brenda Guzman-Williams. Maria, matriarch of the Guzman family, leaves behind an impressive legacy of 14 siblings, 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Maria will also be greatly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to Maria's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Geitner-Givnish Life Celebration Home (6230 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120) and on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Helena Church (6161 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120) with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately following the funeral mass will be at Northwood Cemetery (1501 Haines Street, Philadelphia, PA 19126).

Mom,

You were the greatest mother and most inspirational person I've ever had in my life. You truly were the
Matriarch of the Guzman family and the main focal point of its never ending legacy. I will miss you for the rest of my living years. When I wake up each morning, you will be my first thought of my day ...when I prepare to sleep at night, you will be my last thought of the evening. I will forever treasure the love I have for you as well as the cherished memories you've instilled within me for years to come.

I know that you are not alone and in the presence of Dad, Sugar and Evelyn as well as other family members and friends that were an instrumental part of your life. This self knowledge gives me the inner strength to continue my path in life until we see each other again. Love you always.
