Maria Port Hackley

Maria Port Hackley, 91, of Colonial Heights VA, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

A native of Germany and child of World War II, she was a loving wife, mother and Oma. She spent most of her adult life raising children — not only her own, but many others who were very special to her as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hedwig Port; her husband of 57 years, Paul W. Hackley; son-in-law, Joseph A. Gibson; and her (6) six siblings.

She is survived by her children, Joesph P. Hackley, Linda M. Gibson, Glenn W. Hackley, and Roberta A. McCotter (Shannon); her (10) ten grandchildren and their spouses; (13) great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. As well her “extended” daughters, Jeanne Pursley Liebel and Nancy Pursley Pinchefsky, who lovingly referred to her as "Mia".

Interment will take place privately in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
