Maria Kalavritinou-Ganas Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Maria Kalavritinou-Ganas, a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, who fell asleep in the Lord on November 12, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born in Konidista, Greece, Maria is preceded in death by her loving parents, Andreas and Aikaterini Kalavritinos. She is survived by her cherished husband of 52 years, Anastasios Ganas; her beloved sister, Vasiliki Kalavritinou-Giannias; her loving children, Mary Dagres (John) and Andrea Ganas; her treasured grandchildren, Panagiotis, Anastasios, and Konstantina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward her legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love.
Maria's life was a testament to grace, humility, and devotion. She leaves behind a legacy of beauty - in her art, her faith, and the lives she touched.
A gifted hairdresser and artistic soul, Maria found deep joy in writing Orthodox icons, crafting poetic prayers, and expressing her faith through art. She taught Sunday School for seven years, sharing the love of Christ in every interaction. Her piety was quiet but radiant, touching everyone who knew her. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and compassion, and for the way she made every person feel seen, heard, and cared for. She could always find a way - no matter the challenge.
Her greatest joy was being "Yiayia" to her precious grandchildren and a pet parent to her beloved cats, who gave her comfort and unconditional love.
Maria's family, friends, and all who were blessed by her warmth will truly miss her.
May her memory be eternal.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to:
