Mary Agatha Liscio
November 4, 1929 – March 25, 2025
Mary Agatha Liscio, born on November 4, 1929 in New York, passed away on March 25, 2025 at the age of 95. She was the cherished daughter of Lucia and Antonino Trimarchi and older sister to Agatha and Vincent Trimarchi. Maria was the loving wife of Frank Liscio, who predeceased her, and the devoted mother to Diane Liscio Masi and Mark Liscio. She was the beloved grandmother to Matthew Masi, Alexander Liscio, and Chloe Liscio Sullivan, and the great-grandmother to Luca Liscio and Harry Sullivan. She was a treasured aunt to 21 nieces and nephews.
Although born in New York, Maria spent a number of years living in Sicily as a young child with her family before returning to the United States prior to the invasion of Sicily in WWII. She received the sacrament of the Eucharist prior to leaving Sicily because the nuns in her convent school did not want her to return to America without her reaching that important milestone in her spiritual life. Back in New York, Maria attended public schools and graduated from Columbus High School, all the while living in the beautiful family apartment building at 1133 Mace Ave. It was there at 1133 that she met her future husband Frank and, after a whirlwind courtship, they married in 1953 at the Tavern on the Green. They moved to Westchester County and began to raise a family. Frank was a partner at a Big Four accounting firm and then Controller with a multinational corporation, and his job required travel to Europe. Maria frequently accompanied Frank on his trips and caught the travel bug, which defined much of her life. She became a travel agent for Caprice Travel in Yonkers, NY and there was no stopping Frank and Maria after that. Their home became a reflection of their travels with tasteful and enduring artifacts from places they had visited. Maria was a young wife and mother during the 50s and 60s and she was the suburban version of a jetsetter. She was a stunning beauty, dressed impeccably wherever she went. Maria never said no to social invitations and continued to have an active social life well into her 80s. She was beloved to her friends and was a fixture at the Davenport Beach Club in New Rochelle for 52 years, where she had lifelong associations.
But Maria's true love was her whole family. Her sister and brother were her best friends and the three families were always together. At age 40, she decided to be known as Maria although many nieces and nephews continue to refer to her as Aunt Mary.
After Frank's death in 1990, Maria found herself a widow at 60 years old. She resided for many years at The Brooklands in Bronxville, where she was a vibrant member of both the community and the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville. It was there that she met her longtime companion Michael Scovatti who shared a love of travel. Michael and Maria were supportive and loving to one another until Michael's death eleven years ago.
Maria ended her days at Epic Nursing home in White Plains, where she was beloved for her terms of endearment and the funny nicknames that she gave the staff. She had a presence and made an impact long into her 90s.
Maria never wanted to age, although she did, with grace and flair. She loved life, lived beautifully and was well-loved.
