Maria Digna Martinez

Maria Digna Martinez, 86 of Aurora, passed away Tuesday September 16, 2025 at The Pearl of Orchard Valley, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico; daughter of Angel Aponte and Susanna Amaro. Maria was employed as a seamstress at the Riverdale Coat Company for over 25 years. After her time at the coat company, she worked in the housekeeping department at The Bethesda Lutheran Home in Aurora for over 15 years. Maria enjoyed all types of sewing and stitching; she also loved cooking but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Maria is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jose, 4 sons; Nolberto Velazquez, Hector (Lucy) Velazquez, Henry Velazquez and Erwin Velazquez. 2 daughters; Grisel Cruz (Hector) and Wanda (Ruben Alviar). 19 grandchildren; Joseph, Nicholas, Steven (Cindy), Chad, Daniel, Alyssa, Vanessa (William), Erica (Erick) Davis, Desiree, Jacob, Stephanie, Jessica (Boris) Roldan, Michael, Alexander, Nicole, Isenia (Mick) Stuber, Alexander, Angel and Vanessa (Alfonso) Bedford. 27 Great Grandchildren; Parker, Edison, Ella, Vivienne, William, Gabriella, Hector, Gladys, Olivia N., Olivia, Andrea, Khaleb, Raiden, Zyler, Isiah, Everly, Leo, Isaac, Noelle, Alanna, Abbey, Leela, Ivy, Landon, Olivia, Damian, Javiar and Nova. 3 great great grandchildren; Namari, William and David, along with 2 brothers; Juan (Eva) and Angel and many other nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Lisa, a great grandson Ethan and a great granddaughter Jazmine; along with 2 brothers; Gilberto, Atanacio and 5 sisters; Lydia, Julia, Ramona, Georgia and Evangelista. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday September 24, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway in Montgomery.
