**Biography of Maria Mathios**

Maria Mathios, born Maria Koroulakis on October 4, 1944, in the picturesque island of Rhodes, Greece, lived a life that radiated kindness and generosity. Her journey, marked by resilience and unwavering spirit, ultimately led her to settle in McLean, Virginia, where she became a beloved member of her community. Throughout her life, Maria displayed a remarkable blend of warmth and dedication. She devoted over 30 years to serving as a cashier at Giant and Gourmet Giant, where her friendly demeanor and infectious smile brightened the days of countless customers. Her career took another inspiring turn when she became a successful real estate agent at Coldwell Banker, further showcasing her talent for connecting with people and helping them find their dream homes.

Maria's legacy is one of compassion and joy. She had an extraordinary gift for making those around her feel valued and loved. Known for her kindness, energetic spirit, and considerateness, Maria brought happiness to her family and friends, always prioritizing their well-being. Her generous heart was evident in her cooking and baking, where she shared her talents with those she cherished. Gardening was another of her passions, creating beauty in her surroundings and providing fresh produce for her family.

Family was at the core of Maria's existence. She shared a deep bond with her husband, Manuel Mathios, who preceded her in death in 2012. Maria was also a proud mother to her son, Constantine Mathios, and her daughter, Eleni Paris (Fr. Jim). Her heart was filled with immense love for her granddaughters, Vasiliki Maria and Sophia Anastasia Paris. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Evangelos Koroulakis and his wife Katerina (daughters, Drs. Panayiota & Eirene Koroulakis), and John Koroulakis and his wife, Eleni (children, Drs. Antony & Dionysios Koroulakis, and Elefteritsa Koroulakis). She was predeceased by her dear sister, Popi, of Rhodes, Greece, and her loving mother, Elefteria, and father, Antony Koroulakis.

In her leisure time, Maria enjoyed watching Greek programs, taking long walks, and knitting cherished memories with her family and friends. She embodied the spirit of togetherness, making every gathering a treasured occasion. As we reflect on her life, we celebrate the joy and love Maria Mathios brought into the world. Her legacy of kindness continues to inspire those who were fortunate to know her-a reminder of the simple yet profound impact one person can have on the lives of many.

Maria passed away on September 6, 2025, and will forever be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
