Maria Leticia "Letty" Murphy, age 68, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unyielding strength.
Born on March 9, 1957, in Fabens, Texas, and raised in Sierra Blanca, Letty was a devoted wife to Tulon Murphy Jr. Together, they cultivated a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter and compassion. She is survived by her loving children: Monica (Mary), Tulon III (Sonia), and Timothy (Melyssa). Letty is now reunited in spirit with her beloved son, Charles, her brother Lorenzo Ramirez, and her parents, Secundino and Eduvijes Ramirez.
Letty was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren-Abriana (Felipe), Gabriella (Emilio), Shelby, Gabriel, TJ, Kingston, Leon, and Charlotte. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Xiomara and Elio, whose innocent laughter warmed her heart.
For more than two decades, Letty was profoundly dedicated to her role as a bus driver for Fort Stockton Independent School District. She cherished the opportunity to safely transport generations of students, touching lives with her genuine compassion and care. She was a proud fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and never missed a chance to cheer them on, often playfully rooting against the Cowboys, whom she lovingly dubbed the "Cowgirls."
Letty's spirit of generosity knew no bounds; she selflessly offered help to those in need and made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her unwavering love and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
The life of Maria Leticia Murphy will be honored with a series of meaningful services. A public viewing will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend Chapel on September 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM-9:00pm. A heartfelt Rosary will take place at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on September 25, 2025, at 5:00 PM, where all are invited to gather in remembrance. A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Miracles in Sierra Blanca, Texas on September 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Sierra Blanca Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
