Maria M. Pereira

Maria M. Pereira, 93, of Fall River, wife of the late Luis Pereira, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Catholic Memorial Home following a brief illness.

Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Mello and the late Mary Conceicao (Sousa) Mello.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. As a devout Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass, prayed the rosary daily, and participated in many church activities over the years. Most importantly, Maria relished the quality time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She leaves her loving children, Susan M. Oliveira and her husband, Carlos, of Fall River, and Louis E. Pereira and his wife, JoAnn, of Freetown; her two grandchildren, Bryant M. Oliveira and his wife, Megan, and Ashley Pereira and her husband, Jared; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel S. Mello, Robert Mello, Rose Luz, and Joseph R. Mello.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:00 AM. Her visitation will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025 in the Silva-Faria Funeral Home from 5-8 PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
