Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pensacola Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home - Pensacola on Nov. 1, 2024.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loving mother, Maria Antoinette Pinner, who went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Maria was born in San Diego, California, on November 19, 1955. As a teenager, Maria and her family moved to the
Pensacola, Florida area where her father later retired from the United States Navy.
In 1980, Maria and her second husband, Randall Pinner, moved to Milton, Florida where they raised their four children. Maria became a school bus driver with the Santa Rosa County School Board and retired after almost thirty years of service. This job allowed Maria to be ever present in her children's lives, as she was deeply devoted to them. She spent many hours at their schools volunteering and helping in any way she could. After retiring she took a few years off but yearned for something to keep her busy. Maria went on to work at Lowe's in Pace, Florida for over ten years. During her time at Lowe's, Maria often saw kids who rode her bus and former co-workers, and they would reminisce.
Maria had many friendships she cherished. She had a giving heart and was always there to help anyone in need. Maria was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Milton, Florida. She had an unwavering faith that helped her throughout her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Maria is preceded in death by her father, Charles Shank, and brother Damian Ortiz Sr. She is survived by her four children who were her whole life: AC (Angie) Carmona, Vannessa (Lisa) Carmona-Rivera, Richard (Leigh Ann) Pinner, and Randi (Luis) Valencia. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother Alicia Shank, brother Jose (Sheila) Vasquez, sister Cathy (Dan) Walker as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jafri, Kristie Jernigan, and the staff of Baptist Hospital Oncology, Emerald Coast Palliative Care Nurse Lindsey Hicks, and Emerald Coast Hospice. You are all truly the salt of the earth and the compassion and care you provided for our mother meant the world to us. Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and Deacon Canning thank you for opening your hearts and doors to us during these last few months. Even though Maria's relationship with Deacon Canning was new, he made her feel like they had known each other for a lifetime. Lastly, Aurora Vasquez, Ben, Rita Nichols, Shelly Burks, and Wayne Richardson there are no words that could describe how thankful we are for your support through this difficult time.
"God created the butterfly to remind us that change is a beautiful thing." When you see a butterfly, think of Maria and the impact she had on this earth.
