Maria V. Ramirez, 84, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Born on April 20, 1941, in Refugio County, Texas, to Andres and Maria Villarreal, Maria lived a life devoted to caring for others and her beloved family. As a youth, Maria enjoyed playing softball and basketball, developing a lifelong passion for sports, including her team the San Antonio Spurs. A devout Catholic, Maria lived by the words "through God all things are possible," and her faith guided her throughout her life. Family, friends, and even strangers would often ask for her to pray for them, which she gladly did her entire life. For over 25 years, Maria worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, dedicating herself to the care and comfort of others before retiring in 2003. She was known for her loving nature, compassionate spirit and kindness. She had an infectious laugh and was always smiling and joking around with her family and friends. Maria found great joy in her garden, where she could often be found tending to her plants and flowers. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family. She is survived by her three children: Mario Ramirez, Sylvia Mello, and Soña Ramirez; her son-in-law Rolando Mello; and her granddaughter Victoria Mello. Maria is also survived by her siblings David Villarreal, Raul Villarreal, Celia Rios, and Lorraine Garza along with their families. Maria was preceded in death by her parents Andres and Maria Villarreal; her son Noe Ramirez and her siblings Avelia Galvan, Clavio Villarreal, and Ofelia Perez. Maria's legacy of love, service, faith, and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. SERVICES: Viewing will be held from 5:00-6:00 PM on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Mission Park Funeral Chapel, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio, TX 78230. A rosary service will follow at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 223 E. Summit, San Antonio, TX 78212. Maria will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218, following the service. Friends and family are invited to join the family for a reception at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Hall following the burial.
