Maria Schiebli Obituary

Maria was born in Unterwarmberg, Gottschee, a German speaking area in present day Slovenia. She immigrated to Cleveland in 1952, and actively celebrated her Gottscheer heritage through her involvement at the EOUV Gottscheer Club, where she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary and was a founding member of the Gottscheer Heimatchor. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her delicious apple strudel will be remembered by many.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd. in Mentor, OH at 10:30 am. Visitation at the church begins at 9:30 am. Interment at Mentor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to: EOUV Building Fund, 8636 Pekin Rd., Novelty, OH, 44072, Rotoplast International, 50 S. Linden Ave. #8, So. San Francisco, CA, 94080 or Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family- I will always remember my Tante (Marie Fink) with her and their special friendship. She is truly a gem in our heritage.

As I mentioned after Adam's passing, the Schiebli Family will always hold a special place in my mind and soul. The Schiebli and Gandarilla families were true neighbors. Maria always respected our different cultures and strong faith in God as she displayed great care for my parents, brothers and sisters. And, we were often the blessed recipients of her delicious apple strudel and other treats. Thank you Maria for all the wonderful memories. Faith, Hope and Love, always.
