Maria Searfoss Obituary
Maria Searfoss, age 55, of Alger, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born on November 26, 1969, the daughter of Frank and Jacquelyn (Boman) Smelser in West Branch, MI. Maria dedicated her career to helping others as a Foster Care Assistant. She married the love of her life, Kevin Searfoss, and together they shared 17 wonderful years filled with love and cherished memories.
Maria had a passion for writing and was proud to achieve the milestone of becoming a published author with her book, Fear in the Woods. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, especially playing card games and sharing laughter.
She is survived by her beloved husband: Kevin Searfoss; children: Jacob Smelser, Matthew Searfoss, and Ryan Searfoss; sisters: Barbara Willford and Vinnie Anderson; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mike Smelser and Debbie Nichols.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
