Maria Behling Stockmann

Maria Behling Stockmann, 92, of Newington formerly of North Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at her home. She was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Edwin Stockmann. Born in Hintzendorf, Verden Germany on June 24th, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Hermann and Meta Rohde Behling. Known as "Oma Maria" to many, she immigrated to the United States from Germany where she grew up on her family farm. She was a strong-willed lady who enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, was a great cook and was devoted to the Zion Lutheran Church of Wallingford where she volunteered most of her time and was a member of its Ladies Guild. Most importantly, Maria enjoyed being with her family, who she loved unconditionally. Mother-in-law of Steven Madeia. Grandmother of Kristen Madeia and Jeffrey Madeia. Sister of Fritz Behling. Predeceased by her son Edgar Stockmann, her daughter Erica Stockmann Madeia and her brother Heinrich Behling. Family and friends may visit on Friday morning, November 8th from 10:00 to 10:45 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home. A parlor service will immediately follow at 10:45 AM. Interment will follow the services in the North Haven Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Zion Lutheran Church, 235 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
