On September 21st, 2024 John J. Stockmann 'Jay' passed away peacefully at the age of 59, in Burlington Vermont. Jay was surrounded by family and friends in his final days on this earth.
Jay was raised in Mamaroneck, NY by his parents Arthur & Ginny Stockmann. He grew up playing tennis, baseball, swimming, and sailing. After graduating from Rye Neck High School,
He attended UVM and graduated with his BA in Studio Art, going on to starting his own sign business called 'Metro Graphics', behind his father - in - law's dentist practice in Burlington, VT. Jay continued in the business of design for years before he settled into his true passion of the boating industry, working for Lewmar Marine, Vetus Maxwell, and finally becoming VP of Hinckley Yachts working alongside one of his college best friends Peter O'Connell.
Jay spent his life running marathons, competing in triathlons, coaching his daughters soccer teams, playing tennis, and boating. He loved being on the water, enjoying the sunshine with his friends and family. He loved to help out friends/neighbors on any and all home projects, keeping his creative juices flowing. Whether it was when he was living on Holly Lane in Vermont, or Elm Street in Massachusetts he was always a phone call away to anyone.
He never missed a televised tennis match, a neighborhood party, or a chance to bring out the lobster costume. Jay's huge heart kept a smile on everyone's face, and his humor kept everyone laughing, Jay was the best dad, grandfather, and role model we could have ever asked for.
Jay leaves behind his two daughters, Sydney Stockmann, Natalie Stockmann, his Granddaughter Maya Wilson & son-in-law Tony Wilson. As well as his siblings Peter Stockmann, Jack Stockmann, Jeanne Pollak, & Paul Stockmann, his 2 brothers-in-law, 9 sisters-in-law, 11 nieces & 9 nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on October 19th, 2024 at 1pm in Newburyport, MA at the Dalton Club.
