Maria Stroobants Obituary
Maria Hanackova Stroobants, 53, of Forest died on July 6, 2024, with her mother and brother by her side.
Maria was born in Slovakia on June 13, 1971, a daughter of Maria Hanackova and the late Andrej Hanacek.
She chose to come to the United States to build a better future for herself and it was here in Forest, Va., that she met Alphonse Stroobants and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime!
She and Al were married for 18 wonderful years filled with accomplishments and travel together before he passed away in 2010. They enjoyed trips back and forth to Slovakia, Europe and out west to ski and snowmobile.
Maria loved being with all the animals on their farm especially her loyal canine companions, Blackie, Sasha, and Lucky.
She is survived by her mother and her younger brother, Andrej, who both love her very much and will remain eternally grateful for all the support that Maria gave to them.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Northcote Angus Farm. A Celebration of Maria's life will follow at 2 p.m. with a reception immediately after the service.
