It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and sister, Maria Teme Guerrero Castillo, who departed this life on Friday, August 8, at RWJ Somerset, at the age of 81.

Born in Colombia, Maria later made her home in Somerset, New Jersey. She worked for many years at Lord & Taylor before joining Brandywine Assisted Living, where she brought her kindness and warm spirit to residents and staff alike. She retired a few years later, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and compassion.

Maria was a member of Fellowship Hall in Cranford, NJ, and her faith was a steady source of comfort and guidance. She loved to travel, especially when visiting her friends and family in Colombia, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Her home was also brightened by the cheerful songs of her parakeets and canary, whom she loved to talk to.

Maria is survived by her sons, Oscar J. Reyes and his wife Betty Reyes, and Frank and his wife Carla ; her step-grandchildren Manuel and Elizabeth ; and her beloved great-grandchildren Mason, Delilah, Noah, and Braydon. She is also survived by her siblings Rita Grasiela Castillo, Ana Parejo, Ena Parejo, Alfredo Parejo, Lourdes Parejo, Alejandro Parejo, and Anparo Parejo.

A celebration of Maria's life will be held at a later date. Please contact Oscar or Francisco for the time and place.

Maria will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and the way she loved deeply and unconditionally. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her
