Maria Tobar Obituary

Mary grew up in Karnes City and married Daniel Tobar on July 8, 1967. She later relocated to Texas City, where she spent 35 years serving as an office manager at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Mary enjoyed reading, going to the movies, dancing, and shopping. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she was a wonderful provider to her family. Following her retirement, Mary and her husband moved back to Karnes City to be closer to their family. She was a parishioner of St. Cornelius Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupana Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Felipe Davila; and brother-in-law, James Pettigrew.
Mary is survived by her husband of 57 years, Daniel Tobar; children, Jeff Martin Tobar and Danny (Jennifer) Tobar; grandchildren, Ashely Andrews, Alyssa Tobar, Angel Tobar, Audrey Tobar, Alexis Tobar, Airiq Tobar, and Adrian Tobar; great grandchildren, Kane, Mia, King, Eli, Alexandria, Holden, and Hudson; and siblings, Melecio Davila, Dora Pettigrew, Helen Hernandez, Estella Cantu, Nancy Currie, Beatrice Davila, and Ofelia Davila.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City. A rosary will be recited there at 7:00 p.m. that evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6th at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Burial will follow at the Karnes City Cemetery.
