Maria Joy Wright, daughter of Elizabeth Ann (Herman) Dufrene and Laszlo Joseph Radovich, was born on August 18, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. She passed away surrounded by family on May 2, 2025 at the age of 59.
Maria and her family moved around a lot when she was a child. She was united in marriage to Charles Anthony Doucet and they had two children Amber and Charles, Jr. This marriage was later resolved. Maria lived in Mississippi and took in Joshua Adam Gardner as her foster son. She was a school bus driver for 15 years, and later a medical transport driver until she was forced to stop due to her own medical issues. Maria was united in marriage to Michael Paul Wright, this marriage was later dissolved. Maria and her children moved to Iowa.
Maria believed in the Jehovah Witness faith. She had a passion for fishing. She also enjoyed reading books and making jewelry. Maria had a skill of drawing blueprints, creating custom house designs for many of her family members.
Maria is survived by her children Amber Doucet and her fiancé John Bumgart, Charles Doucet, Jr and his fiancée Samantha Grossman, and Joshua Gardner; seven grandchildren Ashtyn, Arin, Eva, Mercedes, Daniel, Laszlo, and Charles, III. She is also survived by her brothers Laszlo Radovich and Steven Radovich.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth (Jim) Dufrene and Laszlo (Toni) Radovich; and her sister Elizabeth Carter.
There will be a fish off at Tuttle Lake on May 20, 2025 in Maria's honor. Friends and family are encouraged to follow the balloons and gather for a time of memories and enjoying Maria's favorite hobby of fishing for the day.
