Mariamma Paul

Mariamma Paul also known as Lalamma, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on October 5, 1949, in Kerala, India, Mariamma immigrated to the United States in 1976, where she built a life filled with love, service, and unwavering faith.
Mariamma was known for her boundless generosity, warm smile, and a spirit that brightened every room she entered. She dedicated her life to her family, instilling in her children and grandchildren the values of compassion, hard work, and kindness.
Mariamma went to nursing school at Maria Lott Lyles Nursing School and married the love of her life and childhood friend, Chacko Paul on October 9, 1975. She was an Operating Room nurse for 49 years. She began her career at Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. After immigrating to the U.S., she worked at Brooklyn Health Center Hospital, Holy Family Center, Westchester Medical Center and finally retired from Nyack hospital in 2012.
A devout member of St.Mary's Indian Orthodox Church of Suffern and St. Gregorious Church of Tampa, Mariamma actively participated in various church activities and ministries. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found immense comfort and strength in her spiritual community. True to her name, she was a devout believer in St. Mary and without fail she prayed her intercession prayers twice a day and this was instilled in her family.
Mariamma is survived by her husband Chacko Paul (Rajan) loving children, Lisa, Liju and Justin, and their spouses, Ranjith, Leena and Ginni. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Jaylen, Nicholas, Gabriella, Rebecca, Jaxon, Chase, and Eleanor. She is also survived by her siblings, George Abraham and Sister Rachel Mary and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her.
